Russia has detailed a new defense offer for India focused on “force multipliers” for modern warfare. Ambassador Denis Alipov confirmed discussions are “underway on drones, anti-drone systems, advanced radar, and other force multipliers.”
This high-tech package is part of a major strategic push to reaffirm the 60-year defense partnership, which Alipov termed the “backbone” of India’s military.
The announcement is a direct response to a diplomatic row sparked by Donald Trump, who claimed India would halt Russian oil imports. The US has also imposed 50% tariffs, partly as a penalty for this trade.
Russia’s offer, which also includes the Su-57 fighter jet, is designed to showcase its value as a high-technology partner.
While India’s MEA has cited “national interest” to rebut Trump, Russia’s message is that it remains the most reliable source for the advanced systems India needs to maintain its military edge.
