The two nations have signed a letter of intent to forge a partnership that aims to create a robust supply chain for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), independent of Chinese influence. This pivotal agreement was formalized between Taiwan’s Global UAV Academy (GUAVA) and the Japan Drone Consortium during the International Drone Expo held in Tokyo.
The collaboration is set to focus on several key areas, including the development of resilient drone supply chains and the expansion of research and development capabilities. In addition, the partnership aims to improve cybersecurity measures, train skilled professionals, and organize joint industry events to foster a thriving drone ecosystem. Taiwan has emphasized its strengths in advanced manufacturing and semiconductor technology, as well as its expertise in information and communications, supported by a network of over 300 companies involved in drone-related activities.
