Taiwan and Thailand are deepening their collaboration in the field of smart agriculture, with a particular emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence, promoting low-carbon farming practices, and advancing agricultural technology. This initiative was marked by a recent visit of a Taiwanese delegation, consisting of experts from government, industry, academic, and research sectors, to key locations in Thailand including Bangkok, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai.
During the visit, the delegation engaged with Thai officials and research institutions to discuss the implementation of AI in agriculture. These discussions focused on a range of topics, including smart-farming technologies, low-carbon agriculture, and the role of public-private partnerships in modernizing agricultural production.
The Taiwanese representatives also toured farms and agricultural organizations that are pioneering smart-farming methods. Among these were sites dedicated to organic tea production and environmentally friendly banana cultivation. At Maejo University, conversations centered on agricultural engineering, technology adaptation, and the development of skilled professionals to support the sector’s growth.
Additionally, the visit provided an opportunity to assess Thailand’s specific needs for smart-farming equipment, technologies, and operational support. Taiwan plans to leverage existing agricultural cooperation programs with Thailand to facilitate joint research initiatives, talent exchanges, field testing, and the establishment of business partnerships in the domain of smart agriculture.
