Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation between China and Germany, advocating for mutual support in multilateralism, free trade, and dialogue. During a phone call with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on Monday, Wang highlighted the benefits of closer economic and strategic ties between the two nations.
Amid global economic challenges, Wang stressed the importance of greater communication, mutual trust, and deeper practical collaboration. He also urged Germany to adhere to the one-China principle and contribute to maintaining stability across the Taiwan Strait. Additionally, Wang encouraged resolving economic and trade differences between China and the European Union through dialogue rather than confrontation.
German Foreign Minister Wadephul acknowledged the positive momentum in Germany-China relations and expressed support for increased high-level exchanges and stronger cooperation in trade and economic affairs. He reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to the one-China policy, aligning with Wang’s call for stability in the region.
Beyond bilateral relations, the two ministers discussed international issues, particularly the situations in Iran and Ukraine. Wang reiterated China’s commitment to supporting peace efforts and enhancing communication with Germany and the European Union.
