China is set to embark on its National Science Popularization Month, an initiative aimed at enhancing public comprehension of scientific innovation and boosting science literacy across the nation. This month-long program, under the theme “Science Transforms Lives, Innovation Secures the Future,” will feature an array of exhibitions, lectures, science tours, and activities designed to engage the public.
In Beijing alone, over 100 exhibitions and events are planned to take place in major venues. Meanwhile, national scientific societies are organizing more than 150 activities throughout the country. The focus will be on making both basic research and emerging scientific advancements more accessible to everyday citizens, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of these fields.
The program offers a unique opportunity for visitors to gain firsthand experience with cutting-edge scientific progress by accessing laboratories and research facilities. Such initiatives are designed to demystify the scientific process and engage the public in meaningful ways, bridging the gap between scientific communities and society at large.
Additionally, the 2026 World Conference on Science Literacy is scheduled to be part of this program, taking place in mid-September in Beijing. This conference will gather representatives from various countries to deliberate on the importance of science literacy and promote international cooperation in the field.
