In a significant step for cross-strait travel, China’s Loong Air has inaugurated a direct flight service connecting Chengdu Tianfu International Airport with Taichung International Airport. This new route marks Loong Air’s first foray into cross-strait operations, offering a twice-weekly service that enhances connectivity between southwestern China and central Taiwan.
The flights are scheduled to depart every Tuesday and Saturday, providing travelers with reliable options for reaching their destinations. The introduction of this route is seen as a strategic move to strengthen ties and improve accessibility between the two regions, potentially boosting both tourism and business travel.
With the addition of the Chengdu service, Taichung International Airport now boasts a total of 31 active or planned routes. This includes 20 regular services and 11 charter options, reflecting the airport’s growing role as a key aviation hub in the region. The Chengdu route joins existing scheduled connections to Nanjing and Qingdao, further expanding the airport’s cross-strait offerings.
