Taiwan has temporarily halted the processing of visas for Moroccan citizens following Morocco’s decision to cease accepting visa confirmation letter applications from Taiwanese travelers globally. This move by Morocco is based on the principle of reciprocity, according to Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry explained that Moroccan diplomatic missions received instructions to stop handling these essential confirmation letters, which Taiwanese nationals need to obtain visas upon arrival in Morocco. However, Taiwanese travelers who already possess valid confirmation letters issued before the suspension can still enter Morocco as long as their documents remain valid.
Taiwan expressed concerns over the impact of Morocco’s decision, highlighting that it disrupts travel and people-to-people exchanges between the two regions. In response, Taiwan has called on Rabat to resume normal visa processing to facilitate smoother interactions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan has stated that it will keep a close watch on Morocco’s visa policy and will adjust its own visa measures in response to any changes in Morocco’s position.
