The “Yellow Line”: Israeli Withdrawal Key to Finalizing Gaza Deal

by admin477351

The “yellow line” has become the critical demarcation in a nearly-finalized deal to end the Gaza war, with an Israeli withdrawal to this mid-August position being the key to securing the release of all hostages. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the deal is “90 per cent” complete and awaiting final logistical arrangements.
The framework, which Rubio said Hamas has “basically” agreed to, is structured as a direct exchange. The freedom of Israeli hostages held by Hamas is contingent on the Israeli military pulling its forces back behind this specific line.
In a move aimed at long-term peace, the agreement also includes a commitment from Hamas to discuss Gaza’s future. Rubio revealed the group has agreed “in principle” to a plan for the post-war era, a significant political development.
The deal is a major diplomatic initiative for President Donald Trump, who has called it a “great deal for Israel.” He is pressuring Hamas to accept all terms, warning of “complete obliteration” for non-compliance, and has secured the support of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
With the principle of withdrawal to the “yellow line” accepted, the remaining task is to coordinate the transfer of hostages. Rubio suggested these final talks will rapidly determine the success of the entire peace effort.
